Microstakes Ramp

The Microstakes Ramp

A free practical course for building No-Limit Hold'em fundamentals and using solver study to improve your intuition and guide your decisions.

The Microstakes Ramp

Our goal with this program is to take a player who is familiar with the rules of No Limit Hold’em and improve their poker knowledge and intuition to a level that enables self-improvement. We will do this by building practical experience and studying GTO theory, to a point where players should be able to handle themselves at online Microstakes tables.

Who Is This For?

Have you ever wanted to improve your poker skills but hit a plateau after watching a few YouTube videos? Do you ever feel like you’re not improving very much even though you’re regularly playing?

This program is designed for players who have maybe been exposed to some poker content, but largely rely on intuition and abstract ideas for making decisions. Perhaps you have heard of a poker solver or GTO, but don’t really know what that entails.

A common misconception is that poker solvers are only for advanced players who spend days memorizing frequencies and provides no real value at the poker table. This could not be further from the truth. The solver is simply a tool to bulletproof your poker intuition, and this guide will not only set you up with the basics of practical poker theory, but make sure you know how to use a solver to move up the stakes.

Why Microstakes?

The highest return on investment for your time right now arguably is playing online Microstakes No-Limit Hold’em cash games – specifically buy-ins of $2, $5, and $10. We recommend online Microstakes for a couple of reasons:

  1. You gain experience faster. In a live game you might see around 20 hands/hour. Online tables are closer to 100 hands/hour. You can also multi-table to hit over 1000 hands/hour.
  2. You play a variety of players. You are exposed to a diverse set of playing styles which forces you to build a solid baseline strategy and lets you practice exploiting differnet player types.
  3. The game moves with you. With buy-ins available from $2 and up, you can play stakes you’re comfortable with at any hour of the day.

Experience and theory go hand in hand, and in order to develop your poker intuition and stay on the right track, we recommend a mix of practice and play.

The Goal

By the end of our Microstakes Ramp program, you will be equipped with the tools necessary to graduate from the micro-stakes.

Our goal is to get you to th epoint where solver study feels useful instead of overwhelming. You should be able to open a spot, understand the main ideas, recognize the important patterns, and turn those patterns into decisions you can actually make at the poker table.

10NL means No Limit Hold’em typically with $0.05/$0.10 blinds and a $10 buy-in (100bb)
